One of my most favourite drives in the Canadian Rockies is the stretch of highway from Radium Hot Springs to Golden BC. It is always beautiful at any time of year. In the late Fall the colour in the valley and the fresh snow on the mountains makes for jaw-dropping vistas. The highway is relatively quiet and there is a feeling of isolation even though there are 3 or 4 hamlets along the way such as Brisco, Spillimacheen and Parson.
There are many opportunities to take a side road to a higher viewpoint or down into the Columbia Wetlands where the Columbia River flows towards Golden. Here are some road-trip photos from early October 2018.
