Lingering Winter Snow

At over 8000' in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia, the snow lingers well into summer.  This image depicts the remains of a wind slab on an easterly-facing aspect.  This is hard dense wind-packed snow transported over the ridge and deposited by prevailing westerly winds through the winter will last well into July.

Moonset behind Paradox Peak

This morning, in the early dawn light, the full moon set behind Paradox Peak in the Purcell Mountains.  I captured these images from the roadside near Panorama Mountain Resort.  

One image shows the setting moon and the other was taken shortly after the moon had sunk behind the mountain.

The Columbia Wetlands full of runoff from the melting snowpack

As the remaining snowpack rapidly melts in the Purcells and the Rockies, the Columbia Wetlands have filled with water. Here are some images from the evening of May 25, 2018 taken near the clubhouse at Eagle Ranch golf course.
