Lingering Winter Snow

Posted by Chris Conway on

At over 8000' in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia, the snow lingers well into summer.  This image depicts the remains of a wind slab on an easterly-facing aspect.  This is hard dense wind-packed snow transported over the ridge and deposited by prevailing westerly winds through the winter will last well into July.
